I believe artistic expression is an outgrowth of personal sensibility and life experience. The oil paintings and intaglio prints in this exhibit were informed by the intense experience of loving my son Daniel who has autism and lives in a world where sense and spirit are inseparable. This intense sensory acuity and full immersion in the present (and eternal) moment can have mystical overtones. It is this state I seek to communicate in my work: a state of incredible perception, beauty and separation. Members of the animal kingdom who also live in unspoken silence share the same gift of keen sensory awareness and appear in my work as companions and metaphor.
